Drugstore Diaries: TRESemme Keratin Smooth Flat Iron Smoothing Spray

Heat Protector

Like many women out there, my hair straightener is a part of my daily morning routine. Especially if you have wavy locks like I do, you know the sleek magic it can work. However, with the great style hair straighteners can provide comes with a cost. Every time those hot plates are applied you run the risk of frying your hair into damaging territory.

Enter: TRESemme Keratin Smooth Flat Iron Smoothing Spray!

Let me start out with saying that I have tried various heat protectant sprays over the years. However, this wallet-friendly product has been a part of my everyday hair care for over a year now for good reason. Not only does this TRESemme spray shield your hair from the potentially damaging effects of heat styling, but it smooths your strands for a sleek look. I spritz the spray on my damp hair and then reapply it once my hair is dry before straightening. Whether you’re using a straightener, curler, or even just a blow dryer, this product is a must!

If you’re looking to give your skin a natural glow (without turning orange) this one is a must!

Currently Craving: Snake Necklaces

A certain jewelry trend has been slithering its way into stores and around necks recently.

A snake necklace can vamp up an all black casual look or make a classic look trendy instantly. The statement piece has been spotted on celebrities like Naomi Watts at the 2015 Golden Globes and can be rocked by every day fashionistas.

While I’m not sure how I would feel with a real snake wrapped around me – a la Britney Spears – I welcome the reptile in jewelry form. The snake necklaces below are budget-friendly and fit a variety of styles…

Celebrity Spotlight: Allison Janney

EOnline.com Allison Janney

Not only was Allison Janney the host of the 41st People’s Choice Awards alongside Anna Faris, but she just so happened to kill it on the red carpet.

The Emmy Award-Winning actress stepped out wearing a sparkling silver Rani Zakhem gown. By the way it hugs her body you would think that it was specfically made for her. Allison’s strappy heels, minimal shining jewels, scarlet clutch, and glowing smile made the look appear effortless. The neutral smoky eye shadow and dark cherry lip was the topping on a very sweet style.

The Masters of Sex and The West Wing went on to host the awards show with laugh out loud worthy jokes and more gorgeous gown changes.

Personally, if I can wear overall sparkles and deep v-neck at age 55 as well as Allison, I’m looking forward to the years ahead! Allison, you got my vote for Best Dressed against all the 20, 30, and 40-year-olds that graced the same red carpet!

Celebrity Spotlight: Fergie

Fergie

Even though the 2014 American Music Awards celebrated all kinds of music, fashion was in the forefront as well! There were many celebrities that looked beautiful on the red carpet, but one in particular had a look that I couldn’t get over. Not only was she one of the first arrivals on the carpet, but she was a performer at the AMAs as well!

Fergie, all I can say is wow. Whoever thinks black is boring clearly hasn’t seen this number. The high neck line, strappy sandals, and gold belt are perfection. The high slit has proven to be quite the trend in Hollywood, appearing on celebrities like Khloe Kardashian. Taking a closer look, the hair and makeup real help make the overall look. Fergie’s long, blonde beach waves look effortless and the simple gold eye shadow with a nude lip let her true beauty show.

Fergie is making a comeback with her first new music in six years AND dressing the part.

3 Holiday Shopping Tips

Shopping

With Thanksgiving on the horizon and more holidays just around the corner, we can all expect to spend quite some time in malls. Sorry to state the obvious, but shopping is great. But it can be stressful especially during this time of year when there are more people crowding stores than desired.

Even though you’ll be buying a bunch of gifts for loved ones, it’s okay to splurge on a little something for yourself. So whole you’re trying on different clothing for yourself, you might want to keep these tips in mind…

1. Dress properly

When you’re planning on shopping for new clothes, it’s important to wear something simple. Since you’ll be taking off and putting on a bunch of tops and dresses, you do not want a complicated shirt getting in the way. That really cute button down shirt may seem like a good choice, but just think of how many times you’ll have to deal with the details. Jeans, leggings, and pants are all good enough to wear on the bottom. However, like shirts, think of shoes the same way. A pair of slip-on shoes are the best so that you don’t have to constantly tie your laces or zip up boots. Think simple and easy.

2. Bring a mini hairbrush and hairspray

A problem that I tend to forget about until I’m actually in the situation is how much static takes over my hair when changing tops so much. All of the different materials are swiped over your hair and can cause a bit of a mad scientist look. To fix on the go, toss a mini hairbrush and small bottle of hairspray for your bag. Then simply spray the brush and run it through your hair. This is a good tip to keep in mind every day!

3. Have your hands free

It’s very annoying to be searching through racks of having to fuss with a coat or other items. If you can help it, leave your jacket in the car and just keep your bag with you. To easily maneuver the store, make sure that you’re bag can go over your shoulder. Also, the less things you bring, the less you have to worry about finding space for in the shoe box sized dressing rooms.
